A Blumz by JRDesigns Feature: Tracie Morris of You're The Bride

Blumz by JRDesigns is in itself a one stop wedding shop. We frequently say if you have the dress and the rings then we can help you with everything else. But, we are not always the first place that brides come when planning their wedding. Sometimes they work with a great wedding planner that chooses to refer their clients to Blumz because they are aware of our great service and one of a kind work. These event planners are all amazing and talented in their own right so, we thought we would start a new series where we highlight a few of the local wedding and event planners that we like to work with.

The first wedding and event planner that we sat down to talk with was Tracie from "You're The Bride". She has been planning weddings since 1999 and knows what she is doing. We had a chance to ask her some questions about herself, the business and of course Blumz. Here is what she had to say:

B- When did you become a wedding planner?
TM-I have been a wedding planner since 1999. I can’t believe how fast 16 years in this business has went so fast.

B- What inspired you to go into this business?
TM-I have always loved weddings since I was a child. I was fascinated by the brides dress, the décor and the wedding cake!

B- What is your favorite and least favorite part of your job?
TM-I love helping couples plan the day and to see the look on their face is priceless when we show them the reception room before guest arrival if time permits. The least favorite thing is when I meet with a bride and they really want to book us but can’t due to funds then later they let us know that if they could have done it all over again that they would have. They wish they could have avoided stress on their wedding day that could have been handled by our team. This makes me sad to hear. Our service is an investment and can be split into payment arrangements to help brides.

B- What is the most important thing to consider when picking a wedding planner?
TM-I think it is important to choose a planner whom you feel comfortable with and trust. You will be spending a lot of time with them as they will be guiding you through every single detail.

B- What is your favorite venue in this area?
TM-I love the Royal Park Hotel in Rochester and would love to book more weddings there. The building itself is gorgeous and is wonderful if you want to have one place to have your ceremony in their conservatory, then the reception. The creek offers a beautiful backdrop for pictures and is close to downtown Rochester for more pictures! We actually started our season there back in May with Blumz at a beautiful wedding!

B- What is the one thing that most brides overlook when planning their wedding?
TM-Many brides forgot to factor in service fees and tax. This can add several thousand dollars onto your budget so it’s important to factor it into the budget before you start shopping for your dream reception location. Service fees can range anywhere from 16-24 % and up!

B-What are your favorite current wedding trends?
TM-I really like the different bars that brides have at their wedding receptions. The possibilities are endless from the traditional dessert bar, ice cream sundae station, trail mix bar, popcorn bar, late night coney and sliders, taco bar, chocolate chip cookies and milk, there are just so many things you can do !

B-Whats your favorite flower?
TM-I LOVE pink peonies!!!

B- Why do you like to work with Blumz?
TM-I love working with Blumz because of their friendly and efficient staff. They get our clients vision and exceed expectations every time!

The Floral Crown

The floral wedding crown has become a huge trend over the last few years. This are a great way to skip the veil and do something different (although they can also work with a veil, depending on what you are going for). They can be created more more natural for a bohemian look or made to be a bit more upscale for a classy more traditional wedding look.  We have fallen in love with this trend and are glad to see it catching on.

Some wedding parties even order floral crowns or hair accessories for everyone in the bridal party.  This is a great way to keep all your girls matching without making them wear the same jewelry.  Everyone from the maid of honor to the flower girl can participate in this trend.
Blumz event and marketing team even made a few crowns to wear to the Grand Circus Gala last week.  It was a fun way to dress up our outfits.  Floral crowns are also a great trend for nights out and for music festivals.

If you would like to learn more about floral crowns or find out how to order one for your event, festival or wedding contact Blumz by JRDesigns at 248-398-5130 or 313-964-5777.

Trend Alert: Floral Chandeliers

Every wedding season we fall in love with a new trend, this year we have become obsessed with floral chandeliers.

We have seen a  lot of brides use chandeliers in lots of different ways. Some couples hang small displays over each table and some have huge arrangements made to cover the head table, the dance floor or the entrance to the reception.

Some of the displays have a more rustic look and include items like branches and twigs and some are very formal and feature actual chandeliers or other shiny items.

Whatever way you decide to go , floral chandlers are a way to take your special day to the next level.
